JOURNEY 3 · LOOK-AROUND · CELEBRATE · SCENE 3
Everyone Enters Differently
“Akka… do you have to know everything to belong?”
“No.”
“Some people lead. Some help. Some learn. Some simply come and stand with everyone else.”
People enter a tradition in different ways.
One person may know the songs.
Another may cook.
Someone may arrange flowers, carry lamps, welcome visitors, build, clean, read stories, make music, watch, learn, or quietly join the prayer.
No single role contains the whole tradition.
Together, these different forms of participation help create the shared experience.
Belonging can begin before expertise.

A tradition remains alive when people can enter it from where they are — and discover deeper ways of participating over time.
So if people participate differently, and communities celebrate differently —
what actually holds Navaratri together?
