The One Who Undertakes The Path

Brahmacharini names the woman who follows the path of brahmacharya: a life ordered toward sacred learning and discipline.
In the Shiva Purana, Parvati decides to undertake tapas so that she may attain Shiva.
She asks her parents’ permission, leaves the comforts of home and begins a long practice of attention, restraint and prayer.
The story does not rush past her choosing. Its lets us see that She knows why she has come.
Brahmacharini is not simply “a woman walking alone.”
She has chosen a path and undertaken it deliberately.
Her strength begins with intention.
Do not read “alone” immediately as loneliness. First notice that Brahmacharini has chosen the path she is walking.
