JOURNEY 3 · LOOK-AROUND · CELEBRATE · SCENE 4
A City Builds Together
Durga Puja
“Akka… did all of this appear overnight?”
“No.”
“A whole community helps bring it to life.”
In Durga Puja, celebration can expand into a shared public world — with sacred images, temporary structures, lights, decoration, music, and neighborhood gathering.
People come not only for worship, but to step into a sacred world that many hands helped create.
Artisans shape.
Organizers prepare.
Families arrive.
Streets brighten.
For a time, the city itself begins to feel transformed.
Here, sacred space is made at public scale — created through collective effort and entered by the wider community.

Sometimes devotion becomes visible not only through prayer or ritual, but through the shared work of building a world people can enter together.
But before any celebration is seen, someone has already begun the work of preparing it.
