Tithi - A different way of counting time
A tithi is not quitethe same as a day.
In traditional Hindu timekeeping, the lunar month is counted
using units called tithis. There are 30 tithis in a lunar month:
15 in the bright half and 15 in the dark half. A tithi does not
always begin at midnight and end at midnight.
||30 tithis = 15 bright-half + 15 dark-half
Veda Vichitra:So one night equals one date?
Akka:Not exactly. That is where our modern calendar can fool us.
"A modern calendar asks, 'What date is it? A traditional calendar also asks, 'What is happening between the Sun and Moon?'"
