Night Five . See Her
SKANDAMATA
Look at How She Holds
Skandamata is shown holding Skanda close.
Around them, the rest of her form remains steady.
The lotuses are still there.
The gesture of reassurance is still there.
The lion is still there.
Nothing about her strength disappears because she is holding someone.
Akka:She's holding him… but she still looks completely like herself.
Veda:And she still has all her other things.
Ammomma:Yes.
Skandamata's form brings two things into the same image: strength and care
She does not become less powerful because another being is close to her.
The relationship becomes part of the image without taking away who she is.
Care does not make strength smaller.

Sometimes we imagine strength as standing alone. Skandamata gives us a different picture. Strength can also make room for someone else.
Can something be strong and gentle at the same time?
